Hollingdean Development Trust – its the ‘better society’ in action

One community enterprise in Brighton does 25+ groups/events/community services, and all in one neighbourhood – wow! – and its run by a group of voluntary trustees with 2 part-time staff.   This makes a small but significant contribution to support the running costs of our thriving community centre. Here’s a bunch of things that happen at Hollingdean Community Centre and under the wing of Hollingdean Development Trust:

Kiddiwinks and Little Darlings children’s groups; Getting a new skatepark funded, planned, built opened and thriving; Yoga; Pilates; Tree planting; Running community events; Local party venue; Family groups with Mandarin and German languages; Makaton training; Community acupuncture; Getting money and grants for local groups; Providing support services for local groups; ICT training; Local consultation study; Kids ‘sport mile’ sessions; Line dancing; Greenroofs; ‘Inspire and Involve’ community conference; Home energy saving project and kits; Street parade;  Accommodating local sports workers for the City and a public transport team; Pre-school music group; Popdance kids group;  ‘Getting Started with Social Enterprise’ course; and….are you hungry yet!… a Chinese new year dumpling workshop!

* these are all things that we run ourselves or help other people to put on – We have regular updates on our website and in Hollingdean News.  Learn more, join in, volunteer, or support us to get funds by visiting http://hollingdeancommunitycentre.org.uk/ plus see Hollingdean news for local information http://hollingdeannews.wordpress.com/
