Well here is an interesting article on the Guardian’s Society site. It posits the idea that commissioners of social care should focus more on ‘independence’ as the goal of social care interventions and less on on-going care. This is both a policy issue and strategic level debate to be had openly. Do we want services to be intervening temporarily with care needs and then withdrawing? In many cases this temporary care or temporary and higher level care is possible and potentially good value http://www.theguardian.com/social-care-network/2013/nov/26/how-fix-broken-homecare-system?INTCMP=ILCNETTXT3487#start-of-comments
